Snake River Surprise with friends

Salmon Falls "The Shoot"

Thrill of a life time.

American Falls Reservoir

Late in the fall, we took  some friends  for an evening ride on the Snake River from Blackfoot to the upper end of American Falls Reservoir.  The Snake had been drained pretty heavy for agriculture uses that summer.  It was low in many many spots, But we easily jetted across the shallow ripples and pushed toward the lake.  As we rounded the final bend in the river we startled thousands of water fowl.  We were as surprised as they were.  The sound of all those wings flapping and the birds calling a sound of alarm and taking  flight all at was a  once in a life time experience and thrill.  We were glad to have shared this unexpected moment with friends.

Rapid Craft gets you to those unexpected moments and leaves you with unforgettable stories to share with friends.

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Up before dawn, scurrying down the steps to the dock eagerly with both arms full of fishing gear. The Sportsman setting in the dock's slip waiting for you to turn the key.  The air still heavy with dew as the motor moves you back out into the lake.  Only the sound of the motor as you skim over the glass like surface steaming with early morning mist.  Easing the throttle back, you enter the bay and move up into the lily pads.  You know where those Pyke are hiding.  A smile slips out as you get that first nibble of the day.

Oh what a beautiful day! Oh what a versatile boat!

River of No Return

You can hear the engine straining against the swift current of the river. The unknown makes you a bit tense  and your heart pounds as you push the throttle forward. There is so much white water, it is hard to determine where the rocks are and what is water. You remember stories of others who had the bottoms ripped out of their boats from the unseen underwater hazards. The Jet is shooting water behind , thrusting you forward.  A feeling of exhilaration swells inside as the engine roars in your ears and temporarily drowns out the sound of the rapids. Rounding a corner, "The Shoot" sneaks up on you  and    before you know it you are right at the bottom of "The Shoot. A huge rock is dead center.  Standing up, you lean forward , straining your eyes vigilantly to read the current ahead.  "The Shoot" is unforgiving and your angle must be precise.

This is no place to wonder about the quality of your boat;  however, you may wonder, "What was I thinking" at this point?

There are two places to go through Salmon Falls. "The Shoot" is where the jet boats go through.  The water current is different where the rubber rafts go through Salmon Falls.

Most jet boats do not even consider going through the Falls where the rafts go through. Because of Rapid Craft's hydraulic design and high draft, it has the maneuverability to avoid the rocks  that  push most boats into the river's current.

Being in control is not an option.  It is a must!

Rapid Craft strongly suggests you  run the Salmon with an experienced person the first few times.  It's a great experience!
