Rapid Craft's innovative sportsman design starts where it counts - the floor inner-structure.  Rapid Craft strengths are designed in at the beginning and gives you strength with less weight. 

Rapid Craft has taken the rugged river jet boat inner-structure and designed it into the more affordable Sportsman to equal unsurpassed strength and durability in stress areas.  Rapid Craft’s combination of stringers and cross bars eliminate the tork (twisting of the boat). Anytime a boat structure torks or twists the hulls will break at the weak points, usually the corners. The flat bottom boats do not last as long because they ride rougher and the constant  beating causes tork and cracking with  the end result being a leaky boat. Rapid Craft’s inner structure, "boxes the hull" to eliminate the tork flexes that crack the corners and cause leakage from weld failure.  Rapid Craft hand crafts each boat and has a limited "LIFE TIME" warranty on each hull. Rapid Craft Sportsman are a low maintenance boat.  You are not fixing leaks every year as you do with flat bottom Jon boats. Plus the added benefit of a V bottom design  gives you a far better ride and handling than  that of the flat bottom, rough ridding smaller aluminum boats.

Rapid Craft Sportsman are a low maintenance boat. We can't control what  the guy behind the wheel does with the Sportsman, but we can greatly minimize the damage that may occur because of unseen under water obstacles.  Many manufactures often weld cross bars to the bottom of the boat, creating "grab points". When the boat moves against an unseen underwater object, the gouges created by them grab into these "grab points" and often tear the hull of the boat also. They are expensive and difficult to repair if at all. Rapid Craft’s intra structure eliminates these "grab points". You may have a dent from an underwater object but not usually much more. And it is easier and less expensive to repair those dents than the other competitive boats on the market.  You can spot a poorly constructed boat by the amount of damage it sustains.

Rapid Craft has set the standard in small boat hydraulics. This means  balance in a boat is more important than horse power. Formula for balance is weight, length , flotation, and  hull  design.  All working together  to correctly produce the boats’  precise pivot point so that each Rapid Craft boat performs at maximum performance levels. 

Rapid Craft's eye for detail insures more quality by covering  the inner-structure with 1/2" Fiber Glass laminated Marine Decking that has extra strength and less weight. It also last 10 times longer than plywood. It is less slippery when wet. Most small flat bottom aluminum  boats do not have a floor structure.  The Sportsman has better balance in the boat because the floor structure is completely covered and level. It is flat and you are not walking on the floor ribs of the boat. And you have the added security of knowing  there is a secure structure beneath the floor. 

Look what else Rapid Craft has added. Deeper  side height to give you  extra security in rougher waters. The Sportsman rides higher in the water because of its uniquely designed hydraulics. Maximum performance is our goal in every detail of the Sportsman. We meet and exceed coast guard requirements.

Rapid Craft designed the Sportsman with a modified V bottom. You  have more room because of the open bow and  you have a smoother ride with more control. The modified V bottom allows less draft as you push through the water. Again improving your fuel economy. When a boat is easier to push through the water (less drag) you can put a smaller and lighter motor on it (still maintaining your performance) with a proper pivot point. This gives you better fuel economy without loosing power and speed. (Remember the larger the motor the heavier it is: larger motors use more fuel and many time change the boats pivot point). When a boat is incorrectly designed and has too much draft and you put a larger motor on it.  You also change the pivot point in your boat and everything is  out of balance. Your performance drops, you have less fuel economy and no more speed or power than you have with a well designed and balanced boat with a smaller motor. Great news!!! The Sportsman is equally suited for a jet or a prop.
